WHAT IS EGAC?
The Egyptian Accreditation Council is recognized by the Presidential Decree number 312/1996 as the sole national body for the assessment and accreditation of conformity assessment bodies performing testing/ calibration Laboratories, inspection and certification of products & systems as well as personnel .
EGAC is headed by the Minister of Trade & Industry and governed by a board of 14 members, representing all stakeholders and concerned bodies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up a system for assessment of conformity assessment bodies, and issue accreditation certificates.
- Grant, suspend, or withdraw accreditation for conformity assessment bodies. Carry out continuous surveillance of the accredited bodies.
- Contribute to upgrading the quality of services of conformity assessment bodies according to the international criteria.
- Encourage the exchange of experience among different accreditation bodies.
- Support mutual recognition between conformity assessment bodies working in Egypt and abroad and conclude agreements for this purpose.
- Represent the state abroad in accreditation activities and cooperate with corresponding bodies.

اليوم العالمى للاعتماد 2019
اليوم العالمي للاعتماد (9 يونيو)، الذي يعقد هذا العام تحت شعار «الاعتماد قيمة مضافة إلى سلاسل الإمداد».
واختار شعار هذا العام المنظمة الدولية لاعتماد المختبرات ILAC والمنتدى الدولى للاعتماد IAF .
وتم اختيار هذا الشعار ليؤكد على أهمية الاعتماد في مختلف القطاعات، إذ يعمل في كافة مراحل سلاسل الإمداد، من الرعاية الصحية
والأجهزة والمختبرات الطبية، مروراً بقطاع البناء والطاقة والملابس والمنسوجات والألعاب والإلكترونيات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات،
وصولاً إلى سلامة وجودة الأغذية والمياه..
ويعمل الاعتماد أساسا على تقديم خدمات اعتماد تسهم في رفع جودة وكفاءة الخدمات التي تقدمها جهات تقييم المطابقة
( يقصد بها شركات التفتيش ، مختبرات الفحص والمعايرة ، والمختبرات الطبية ، جهات منح الشهادات وغيرها من الجهات التي تعمل في تأكيد جودة السلع والخدمات )
في مجالات تقنية متخصصة تعزز البنية التحتية للجودة، مما يحقق استراتيجيات وأهداف السياسة الوطنية للجودة .
المجلس الوطنى للاعتماد يحق انجاز جديد بتوقيع اتفاقية ثنائية الاطراف مع الاتحاد الاوروبى
قام المجلس الوطنى للاعتماد بتحقيق إنجاز جديد
المجلس الوطنى للاعتماد EGAC عضو كامل في ILAC و IAF كمنظمات دولية للاعتماد وموقع لاتفاقية الاعتراف المتبادل MRA واتفاقية متعددة الأطراف MLA. كما أن المجلس عضو كامل في AFRAC و ARAC كمنظمات إقليمية للاعتماد في إفريقيا والمنطقة العربية على التوالي وموقع أيضاً اتفاقيات الاعتراف مع المنظمتين.
فقد قام المجلس الوطنى للاعتماد EGAC بتحديث عضويته وتحقيق متطلبات الاعتراف المتبادل MRA في المنظمة الأوروبية للاعتماد EA وهى منظمة الاعتماد الإقليمية للاتحاد الأوروبي - من خلال اتفاقية ثنائية الأطراف BLA مع EA
حيث سيقوم السيد المهندس / هانئ الدسوقي ، المدير التنفيذي للمجلس بتوقيع هذه الاتفاقية في إطار أعمال الجمعية العمومية للمنظمة الأوروبية للاعتماد التي ستعقد في روما يومي 22 و 23 مايو 2019.
وقد أصبح المجلس جهة الاعتماد الأولى التى توقع هذه الاتفاقية مع EA في مجال اعتماد مزودي اختبارات الكفاءة الفنية وفقًا لمتطلبات المواصفة الدولية ISO / IEC 17043
الآن ، نستطيع أن نؤكد أن المجلس الوطنى للاعتماد EGAC هو هيئة الاعتماد الوحيدة في العالم التى قامت بتوقيع اتفاقيات اعتراف متبادل متعدد الأطراف وثنائى الأطراف مع ILAC و IAF و AFRAC و ARAC
